Building the Backbone of Localised Production
Unlocking rural production potential starts with infrastructure. FBSA’s Aggregation & Infrastructure Development programme focuses on creating a decentralised network of aggregation centres and logistics hubs that enable MSMEs to operate at scale.
We work with public and private stakeholders to repurpose underutilised public assets and revitalise poorly performing commercial infrastructure. These spaces are transformed into commercially viable centres for agro-processing, cold storage, equipment sharing, and FMCG manufacturing.
Each production unit within our ecosystem is embedded in a professionally managed, demand-driven system — offering food production and processing, logistics, sales support, business administration, and regulatory compliance services. These units are owned and operated by trained local entrepreneurs, creating jobs and embedding skills in local communities.
By providing shared infrastructure, lowering operational costs, and enhancing access to formal markets, this programme forms the physical and operational backbone of South Africa’s provincial localisation strategy. It connects producers to opportunity, infrastructure to enterprise, and communities to economic inclusion.
